home landscape while keeping in mind

the needs and challenges of your furry

friends.

Paths of Dead Grass...

Dogs tend to cause wear on turfgrass in specific areas, often near or along fences, which provide them good visibility. They like to patrol their territory. That’s why you might see your dog walking the same path over and over again every day.

Often, it’s around the perimeter of the yard. Create paths or walkways along routes your dog already travels. Laying a path of paving stones or pea gravel along the worst areas can be preferable to dead grass. Wood chips, which won’t stick to long-haired coats, can also be an option.

Dog Friendly Landscape Features

With some planning, you can create a water feature so your dog can cool off on hot days.

Is your dog a digger? Provide an area of deep sand. -There are plants that are especially forgiving when being stepped on or slept on. Many ground covers are dog-friendly.

Select plant species that reduce fleas, such as lavender, rosemary, and mint, and others that are good for dogs to eat -- blueberries, strawberries, wheat grass, and oat grass.
